Quantitative Fit Testing (QNFT)

The objective, instrument-based method required for full-face respirators and environments demanding the highest level of verified protection.

How it works

Unlike qualitative testing which relies on the user's senses, quantitative testing uses advanced instrumentation (like an ambient aerosol condensation nuclei counter) to physically measure the amount of leakage into the respirator.

The machine calculates a specific "Fit Factor" based on the ratio of particles outside the mask to particles inside the mask while the user performs standard breathing exercises.

Why choose Quantitative?

  • Objective ResultsRemoves human error and subjectivity from the testing process.
  • Higher Protection FactorsCan verify fit factors of 500+ (qualitative is limited to 100).
  • Regulatory ComplianceStrictly required by OSHA for full-facepiece respirators used in atmospheres >10x the PEL.

When Quantitative Testing is Required

Full-Face Respirators

Required for any full-face respirator where a protection factor greater than 10 is needed.

High Hazard Areas

Environments with high concentrations of dangerous chemicals, asbestos, or lead.

SCBA Equipment

Essential for self-contained breathing apparatus users like firefighters and emergency responders.
