What to expect on fit testing day

A manager's guide to how onsite fit testing works and how to keep production flowing.

We bring the clinic to you.

The entire point of onsite testing is to minimize disruption. Here is exactly how an Onsite Fit Testing day plays out.

1. The Setup (15-30 mins)

Our NIOSH-certified technicians arrive prior to the scheduled start time. We just need a clean, relatively quiet room (a breakroom, conference room, or clean warehouse corner) with a table, a few chairs, and access to a power outlet.

2. The Paperwork Check

Before anyone puts on a mask, we verify their medical evaluation clearance. If your team used our online medical evaluation system, we already have this on file. If they used your own clinic, they need to present their clearance paperwork.

3. The Test (15-20 mins per group)

For qualitative testing, we can test small groups simultaneously.

* The Check: We show them how to don the respirator properly and perform user seal checks.

* The Exercises: The employee wears the test hood while we introduce the test agent. They will perform a series of standard exercises: normal breathing, deep breathing, turning head side to side, nodding up and down, talking (usually reading the "Rainbow Passage"), and bending over.

4. Immediate Results

If they pass, we issue their customized fit test card right then and there. If they fail, we help them adjust the mask or try a different model/size and retest.

5. Digital Delivery

After testing, we deliver your complete digital roster as soon as it's finalized — including everyone tested, the respirator they passed on, expiration dates, and PDF fit test records for your files.
